There are lots of options for officiants, the trick will be finding the one who will provide a personal order of service with lots of scope for your input. How Does the Marriage Ceremony Work?
Most officiants will co ordinate a beautiful, bespoke ceremony with some formalities for the legalities.
The basic components include:
- Processional & Welcome
- Declaration of Intent/Vows
- Ring Exchange
- Readings
- Hand Fasting – a unique Celtic Ritual is a perfect ways to symbolize your union.
- Pronouncement of Marriage
The officiant will give you lots of “sample” ceremony wording to work from.
What Do We Wear ?
Just like any bride or groom, whatever you like! Some lesbian couples walk down the aisle in traditional wedding gowns and veils, complete with bridal bouquets, and some choose “tuxedas” (tuxedos designed for women). Men might choose traditional formalwear or lounge suits purchased especially for the occasion. You can wear identical ensembles or choose separate outfits that complement your individual styles. The bottom line – whatever style you choose, make it your own.
Can We Have a Wedding Party?
Of course! Traditionally, the maid of honour and best man are “witnesses” – they witness the legal marriage document along with the officiant.
What About the Reception?
Some couples plan a relatively traditional formal reception with dinner, dancing, and the works. Others choose a more informal barbecue, buffet station event or a fabulous meal at a restaurant. If having a rehearsal dinner / welcome party our elite partner venues all offer great options for a formal dinner or a cocktail party or even an informal evening in an Irish pub!
