There was no place like home for this fun-loving young couple and when you visit Kerry in the Summer, you will find it impossible to disagree. From the plush setting of the penthouse at the 5 star Aghadoe Heights to the historic St. Mary’s Cathedral, what more could anyone planning a wedding in Ireland want!
We could write you a wonderful story about why you should have your wedding on the West Coast of Ireland but we don’t need to. These images tell the story of how unique Ireland is for your wedding, from our world class venues and other partners we have on-board the West Coast Weddings Ireland team. All you have to do is sit back, relax and drink the Irish wedding experience in.
‘No Place Like Home’
Rob and I live in Dublin but we both originally hail from Kerry, so although it may have seemed like an obvious choice to have our wedding at home, there were so many other factors involved in our decision. Quite simply, Kerry is breath-taking and with our guests travelling from as far as Australia, Florida, Luxembourg and the UK, we wanted to show them all that our beautiful home-county has to offer.
Secondly, we had an array of venues and locations to choose from in Kerry, but once we met the team at Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa, we knew immediately that it was the wedding venue for us. It had the perfect blend of high end luxury and a warm, hearty Irish welcome, not to mention fantastic views of the Killarney lakes and mountains beyond.
The day itself in September was spectacular. We got married in glorious sunshine at Killarney Cathedral before heading back to the Aghadoe in our stylish vintage Mustang for an al-fresco reception, allowing our guests to enjoy the stunning view and delicious food and drinks served up by Jason Higgins and the team at the hotel. The wonderful photography by Keith and Evelyn Woodard illustrates our day perfectly – fun, romantic, relaxed and unforgettable. Exactly what we wanted.
What made planning and organising the wedding even easier was that almost all of our suppliers for the wedding were local businesses, and there’s such a wealth of creativity to choose from. In all, it truly was the best day of our lives and almost nine months later, our guests are still talking about that wonderful September weekend in Killarney.”
