A Barefoot Wedding In A Dream Destination
As destination weddings go we have a perfect example held on the West Coast of Ireland. Our American couple, Megan and Nick, were married in September 2015.
They wanted to marry in Ireland and finding the right location was key. They decided that a Castle on the Wild Atlantic Way was the one for them. The day was suited entirely to the couple’s unique desires and the overall theme was from another time. We think that they did it with great style.
The couple held a traditional ceremony within the walls of the Castle, which included a hand-fasting ceremony by Dara Molloy.
This is an old custom which dates back to Celtic times and acts as a binding union between husband and wife. The setting suited their theme, style and personalities perfectly. The bride wore a dress by Jenny Packham and was escorted to the ceremony by bagpipes. The groom’s choice of wool waistcoat conveying a style suited to the location as if it were hundreds of years ago. Hair & make up by Rachelle Guiry and Nuala Hanley.
They chose not to wear shoes and held the entire day barefoot. The couple were smiling throughout the day even taking time out of their special day to feed a wild pony in a nearby field.
The couple chose to celebrate the day with traditional and non-traditional aspects, proving that your dream Wedding Day is possible in any destination. Megan and Nick were able to enjoy themselves, comfortable in their surroundings and sound in knowing every detail was organised. The day was relaxed and joyful, all about them and the love they have for each other. Beautifully captured by The Woodards and very pretty florals by Lawless Flowers.
“We have always yearned to explore the wiles of western Ireland. From the majestic mountains to the wild sheep, the beautiful landscape was more than we could have ever imagined. Our journey completed with the union of our souls at a private castle in the rolling hills. Megan and I were honored to have Woodard photography capture our moment.”
