The First Dance is a very romantic and intimate moment between the bride and groom. They dance together to a song that means something to them and characterizes their relationship. Usually, first dances are slow, but you can also choose to make a fun choreography with your partner to a pop song! One of the most popular songs for the First Dance nowadays is “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. Today, we share with you other songs that our couples will dance to in 2020-21. So, without further ado, here is our selection of First Dance Songs for your 2020-21 Wedding.
1. “10,000 Hours” by Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber
This song was released only a few days after Justin & Hailey Bieber’s wedding. It is a romantic track that talks about devotion and commitment. Also, it is quite a short song (under 3 minutes), perfect for the couple who don’t wish to dance alone for too long. There is also a piano version of the song that is very aptly called the ‘Wedding Version’.
2. “Conversations In The Dark” by John Legend
John Legend might as well be declared king of first dance songs as of now! We can’t tell yet if this song is going to be as popular as “All of Me”, but it is certainly on the right track. This song is a love promise by itself, that our couples will make to each other. We particularly love when he sings: “And you say you’re not worth it; You get hung up on your flaws; Well, in my eyes you are perfect; As you are”.
3. “Adore You” by Harry Styles
This song is not a typical first dance song with its soul & pop rock vibes, but it would be a fun twist to the first dance. And the lyrics are romantic in their own way. We particularly love the lyrics: “You don’t have to say you love me; You don’t have to say nothing; You don’t have to say you’re mine” and “I’d walk through fire for you; Just let me adore you; Like it’s the only thing I’ll ever do”.
4. “Lovers (First Dance Remix)” by Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift made a wedding special remix of one of her hit songs “Lovers”. It begins like a classic first dance song that you could hear in a romantic movie, with a slight vintage touch. The song has a great pace with a downtempo. However, there still are dynamic sections to which you can swirl with your partner.
5. “Finally // Beautiful Stranger” by Halsey
We love Halsey’s unique voice and this song is perfect for a slow first dance. It has a country-rock vibe to it, but the lyrics are romantic and suit the first dance theme you could be looking for. Halsey said that she wrote this song thinking about the night she met Yungblud.
6. “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar & H.E.R
We are loving the simple guitar in the background. It is a classic romantic song and their voices make this song feel so special at the same time. The lyrics are really romantic, with our favourite being “If life is a movie; You are the best part”.
7. “Consider Me” by Allen Stone
Once again, this singer had such a unique voice, we love it. The song if a change from the classic first dance songs we are used to with its R&B and soul vibe. The lyrics are all about love and could even be considered a love letter. We particularly like “And any time of day; I’ll be there right away; Swear it on my grave; If you consider me”.
8. “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” by Beyoncé & Donald Glover
If you want something that all of your guests can sing along to, this is it! It is a romantic song that will remind everyone of their childhood. But let’s not forget that it is, above all, a love song. Perfect for the First Dance!
9. “Beyond” by Leon Bridges
This sound has a summery vibe that we love. It is a slow-paced song that would be easy to dance to, but it is still an R&B romantic song. We love these lyrics: “I’m scared to death that she might be it; That the love is real, that the shoe might fit; She might just be my everything and beyond”.
10. “You Got Me Thinking” by Joshua Radin
This is a very simple song, with a simple tune. But yet, the lyrics and his voice are so mesmerizing. The lyrics are really romantic and we love the woman’s voice that harmonizes with his from time to time throughout the song. It almost feels like a dialogue.
11. “Love You To The Moon” by Kip Moore
This song brings a modern take to the classic love song while still being romantic. This song is perfect for the couple in a long-distance relationship, as the lyrics talk about lovers that can’t be in the same place.
BONUS!
If you really don’t want to do like everyone else, prepare a fun performance for your guests rather than just a slow one. For example, we love that Youtubers Safiya Nygaard & Tyler Williams recreated the famous Addams Family Tango scene as their first dance! It was really well recreated and made their guests laugh a lot. Check it out here!
