Happy reading everyone…
What a wonderful time of year to get married . Everything is bright and sparkly and festive and beautiful.
Christmas wedding colour palettes tend to be richer than any other time of year . Bridesmaids are resplendent in Burgandy, Emerald greens, midnight blues , rich purples, vibrant reds . All beautiful against a snowy backdrop.
Brides can afford to up the ante with their makeup choices during the festive season.
My favourite christmas bridal makeup look will always be a beautiful red lip with glowing skin . Classic , elegant , timeless . Think Grace Kelly on her wedding day.
Skin prep is very important for winter brides . The combination of icy weather and central heating can be very dehydrating . Nourish the skin with rich creams ,oils and serums . Deep clean with gentle cleansers such as Elemis Cleansing balm . Regular exfoliating is key to glowing skin . Try an over night treatment like Kiehls biological Peel to reveal a radiant complexion.
I have a deep love for clarins face oils to hydrate thirsty winter skin . Blue orchid for dehydrated skin , santal for dry and lotus for oily skin.
Hydrating masks are essential pre wedding . My favourites , Sisley Black Rose Mask (you may need to remortgage), Avene Moisturising mask and La Roche Posay Hydraphase. Use a few times a week , the night before and the morning of the big day .
For a dramatic lip , keep everything else low key and pared back . Fill in the brows and use a soft sheen long lasting cream shadow such as Chanel Illusion D’ombre Emervielle . Smudge a black liner into the upper lashline or use a liner pen and go for a kitten flick . Curl the lashes and finish with 3 coats of waterproof mascara . My tried tested and true mascaras are Maybelline Great lash and L’ancome Hypnose Star .
Even out the skin tone with YSL Touche Eclat Foundation adding highlights on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and cupids bow with Shiseido Accentuating colour stick in glistening flush. Set with translucent powder.
The star of the show is the lipstick . My favourite reds are Chanel Pirate, MAC Russian Red , MAC Ruby Woo, Revlon Fire and Ice. Apply with a brush and use a matching liner to perfect the shape .
Finish the look with sheer pink blush on the cheeks .Try Bobbi Brown Peony or Laura Mercier
second skin cheek colour in Lotus skin.
Happy Christmas everyone x x x
