On today’s real wedding blog post, we are turning the tables more than usual and asking the bride Jodie to tell us and you why they chose the West Coast of Ireland for their destination wedding. We are always rattling on about how amazing the place is but today you get to read why Jodie & Jon chose to marry in Ireland and why it will always be special to them.
“My husband Jon and I traveled to Ireland with my family one month after our engagement in August 2014, and we immediately knew that we wanted to host our January 2015 wedding on the West Coast of Ireland. We both fell in love with the people, culture, scenery and hospitality we experienced. Also, it’s important to note that neither of us have Irish heritage in our family, so there was no obligation to chose this spectacular part of the world aside from that we love and adore it and it felt like home to us.”
“I would recommend the West Coast of Ireland to anyone getting married. It was truly a dream for us and we can’t wait to go back for our anniversaries!”
“We felt like royalty throughout the entire wedding trip and on our previous visit after our engagement. The vendors we worked with made the day a complete breeze – the only thing I had to worry about was marrying Jon. I honestly cannot say enough about the professionalism, care, and kindness we experienced. I have never experienced this kind of attention to detail or top-notch service and amenities anywhere else, and it is something extremely special about the West Coast of Ireland.”
“It’s hard to describe the absolutely stunning landscape and historic sites. Driving along the Dingle Peninsula with the sun shining on the ocean, lush land sprinkled with sheep and amazing rock formations and jagged coastline is second to none. Not to mention the castles you’ll happen upon on the way, too! The natural beauty of the golf courses and farm land where we enjoyed a pheasant hunt were also two of the more memorable scenic spots we experienced. I could travel the West Coast over and over again and still be in awe. Our photos look like a fairy tale magazine shoot with castles and the Atlantic Ocean as our backdrop – this very much enhanced the romance and joy we experienced with our family and friends and was so unique.”
Our elite partner venue The Dingle Skelllig is close by to all of these locations in Dingle.
“We knew we wanted a winter wedding in a location where we could still enjoy outdoor activities and West Coast Ireland’s temperate climate and stunning year round beauty allowed for just that. We were able to golf, walk around Killarney National Park, and enjoy a lively atmosphere for New Year’s Eve and more in January!! While we can’t control the weather, we were lucky to enjoy gorgeous sunsets over the Atlantic, sunshine, and even when it was overcast, the rays of the sun that broke through the clouds were even more beautiful.”
” We toured the West Coast for a week prior to the wedding enjoying the Dingle Peninsula, pristine golf courses, whiskey distilleries, pubs, shopping, live music, scenic hikes/carriage rides, and great food. For some of our family, this was a first trip out of the USA, and everyone felt so comfortable and enjoyed themselves without the stress that travel to some other places can bring. West Coast Ireland is a great destination for seasoned travelers/adventurers or for those just getting started due to their impeccable hospitality industry and kindhearted people. We also stopped into Louis Mulcahy Pottery and Dingle Crystal and now have stunning wedding pieces that will always remind us of the West Coast.”
