On her Wedding Day a bride will always want to look her very best with beautiful skin & soft, understated make up today I give you some tips on “How To Look Best On Your Wedding Day“. From my many years in the wedding business I have picked up some excellent tips from the very best Irish & international make up artists.
A bride on her wedding day really wants to look the best version of herself with hair & make up that ensures she looks radiant as she embarks on her red carpet moment. The biggest mistake a bride can make is to get an all new look for her wedding day remember your groom fell in love with you as you are not the unrecognisable you with new hair & party make up!
Choosing Your Make Up Artist
While you will set out to hire a make up artist that is highly competent and creative with an excellent reputation there are other very important characteristics required. The make up artist needs to be warm and personable ensuring a calming effect on you. And while creativity is very important ensure that they have a balance and that their ingenuity doesn’t lead to them running over on time with the make up.
Ideally you should begin the preparation of your skin at least six months prior!
The prep should include :
- Review of your skincare procedure & products
- Regular facials
- Drinking lots of water for hydration
- Eating super foods
- Microdermabrasion to fight those open pores
- Wearing SPF 30/50 on your face & lips
Make Up Trial
Having a make up trial is essential preparation . It gives you the opportunity to share an insight into the look you are after with the artist , show them your gown & jewllery and take a look at your normal make up look. They will advise you on what to buy for the all important top ups on the wedding day. And may even advise on some skin care to prepare for the wedding day make up.
Emphasis On The Eyes
As your lips will be in use throughout the day you might like to put the focus on your eyes. Your artist will provide you with appropriate drama for a bride! A gel eyeliner with waterproof mascara are a must, the Bobbi Browne eyeliner and Dior /Lancome are tried & tested! Not to mention the lashes, the individual lashes usually look & last best !
Don’t forget to have your brows shaped and even dyed couple months prior & then they just need to be tidied up the week before.Eyebrows give your face definition but particularly if you are wearing a veil!
A soft sheen lipstick is great as it almost stains the lips so you don’t have to reapply too often! Avoid high gloss as it rubs off too fast! When choosing your lip colour you might like to go for a fresh, peachy lipstick as it will flatter most skin tones . It will also not be left as souvenier on all your guests faces after you kiss them! Chanel Rouge Double Intensite & L’oreal Infallible Pro are two firm favourites to take you through the day !
