Recently engaged but no idea how to find the perfect venue ,our guide on “How To Find Your Wedding Venue In Ireland” is a MUST READ! Whether you are living in Dublin,Ireland or USA you will love the selection of our Elite Partner wedding venues along the West Coast of Ireland .
1.Hire a Wedding Planner!
If you hire a professional wedding planner they will carefully guide & assist you in your venue selection. They will have insider knowledge having done weddings at lots of venues throughout Ireland. While we have exclusive affiliations to some of the Ireland’s TOP venues.
2.Is the the Reception Room large enough for your wedding guest numbers?
Confirm that the reception room is large enough to accommodate your expected numbers. Also take into account the expected wash down of numbers as to ensure room is not too large.
Ensure the room facilitates a dance floor & a bar within if possible.
3.The flow of the Wedding Day
Always lovely if the pre dinner cocktails space flows easily into dinner & dancing but if it doesn’t ensure venue will have staff on hand & signage to guide your guests. A bar in the reception room ensures you don’t loose guests to the bar. Close proximity to the smoking area is ideal also.
While American weddings dinner flows straight into dancing at an Irish wedding this is not the case. There is normally a break between dinner & dancing to allow for the room to be re set & the band to set up. If you would like the “USA flow of events” ensure to discuss your options with the venue. Check with the band re early set up as it is not the norm for them.
4.Number of weddings per day at the venue
Check how many weddings per day the venue does to ensure no surprises ie another bride!
If you are not concerned about a second wedding at the venue just ensure it can handle both parties in a professional & timely manner.
5.Accommodation for your wedding guests
For a destination wedding it is essential to provide accommodation options for your guests either at the venue /close by.
Some venues will require you to take a block of rooms, ensure you will be able to fill them as they may charge the bride & groom if not all taken by your guests.
6.Theme, Style & Decor for your wedding
While general rule of thumb is decoration & styling will follow once venue chosen however if you have a preconceived theme in mind ensure it suits the style of venue & that the style, décor & props you would like can be facilitated.
7.Venue Attributes for your Summer Wedding
If you are having a summer wedding you are sure to have lots of natural day light. Particularly as at the peek of summer when there can be light in Ireland up to 10.30pm. On the other hand you may envision lots of candlelight & mood lighting so ensure natural day light can be blocked out .
If you would like an outdoor ceremony & pre dinner cocktail reception ensure the venue can facilitate it.
8.Access to your Wedding Venue
We are very lucky on the west coast to have Shannon International airport right on our doorstep & only a couple of hours drive to Dublin airport.
If there is travel involved for guests to /from the wedding ceremony & reception ensure easy to access and transportation readily available if you are not providing. Alternatively if budget allows it is a good idea to put on a coach to transfer guests to/from the airport, ceremony & rehearsal dinner.
Check on renovation plans for the venue.
10.Decor – Furniture /Linens/Fit out
At most Irish venues furniture, crockery & basic linens are included check they are to your liking or if not that budget allows you to rent in alternatives.
11.Service For Your Wedding Reception
On your pre booking visit to the venue take the time to access the general service of food, beverage & overall customer care as this is the standard you too will receive on your wedding day. If you cannot visit ask to see testimonials from past couples and check out their general reviews on line.
