A recent visit to the USA has given me the opportunity to see first hand some of the 2017 bridal gowns collections from Design houses such as Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier and Caroline Herrera. Today I will share a few of my favourite “Beautiful Wedding Dress Trends From Amazing 2017 Collections”. Of course all are very appropriate for your destination wedding in Ireland too!
While most brides still opt for the classical white /ivory wedding dress that doesn’t mean you have to! If you are feeling daring and red or pink or blue are you colour get to it and remember blue can be your “something blue”. Monique Lhuillier loves blush so much it appears in all her recent collections!
Veils & Trains:
The two classic elements “veil & train” were very apparent in the 2017 collections adding lots of drama & glamour to the bridal look. Reem Acra showed extra creativity with an embroidered train that converts into a veil!
The cape which appeared on the main line fashion runway over last few years made a big show in bridal 2017. A short caplet is the perfect alternative to a veil,it still adds dimension to your gown and a mod feel for the bride with a modern style. It gives you lovely shoulder cover for that outdoor ceremony during your destination wedding in Ireland! The cape dress can also give you the two gown in one combination – wear the cape for the ceremony & remove for the reception revealing a whole new look!
Deep V Necklines:
In keeping with the trend of more skin showing & some cut out racy details the very flattering low v neckline has made an appearance on the bridal catwalks. The neckline compliments the upper body and elongates the frame giving a sleek sexy vibe. The curve skimming silhouette is sure to turn heads but still a way to wear all of the traditional wedding accessories such as a veil if you wish.
Whether it is just the higher hemline in the front or all around there were distinct higher hemlines in most collections. The higher hemline is made for dancing all night long and of course no dress change necessary! It too is ideal for your destination wedding !
Black Tie Separates:
Trousers on the wedding day ensures great comfort ! A tailored suit can be so elegant & classical for a very traditional occasion.
While Lace is always a bridal mainstay and a particular favourite for destination weddings in Ireland as so in keeping with a wedding in a castle, on the 2017 catwalks there was an abundance of it. Although the style is more laid back “boho” as opposed to the old school silhouettes of other years! Lace is also a very good gown for a destination wedding as it travels well and quite often won’t wrinkle.
The Alternative Dress :
Lots of alternative dresses on the bridal catwalk in particular the short dress was to be seen in many collections including a favourite from Temperley. The short dress will work very well for your destination wedding, easy to transport and so easy to wear on the day!
A wedding gown should make the bride feel the most beautiful she has ever felt and reflect her sense of style,#Monique Lhuillier
